I have mixed feelings about this fairly new gastropub. Mint, which opened over the summer, is located right near Carytown. I’ve been wanting to try it for a while, considering the beaming reviews I’ve heard and read about it, but my expectations may have been a little too high.
I got the grilled cheese bites with tomato soup, which are picture first, which I thought were great. Simple, fried, deliciousness. However, our service was very slow, and my iced coffee was so watered down that I would have believed it was tea. My friend got the “Cheddar-Jalapeño Biscuit Benedict” (poached farm eggs, bacon instead of the ham that’s on the menu & chipotle hollandaise), which was not as great as it looked. The eggs weren’t even a little bit runny, and the bacon was chewy. The potatoes on the side were good and crispy, but she ultimately felt disappointed in the meal as a whole.
The price point here is just right for me as a college student, and all of the menu items look and sound fun and interesting. I would return to Mint, but maybe for a meal other than brunch to see what else they have to offer.
