As it starts to get a little colder here in Virginia, I’m definitely missing my summer in Connecticut. This is a photo of a margarita-type drink I made at a party I threw at my house. The only downside to it is that you can’t really set it down, but this actually was kind of fun to pass around until it was done! The number of people who drank out of it and the number of straws shown are not the same.. but the extra straws made it look better. Recipe for this fun summer drink below:
Ingredients:
- 1 large watermelon
- 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
- 1 cup silver tequila
- 1 1/4 cup Sprite Zero
- Ice
- Lie watermelon on it’s side and cut about 1/3 of it off the top
- Hollow out the remaining 2/3 of the watermelon using a spoon (serrated spoons are great, I used a metal measuring spoon. also, you can set out the watermelon pieces you just scooped in a bowl with toothpicks for the party!)
- In a pitcher, mix all ingredients together
- Pour drink mixture into the 2/3 remaining of the watermelon and add ice
- Push most of the straws down into the watermelon so that they don’t float to the top, leaving about 5 or so loose for you and your guests to enjoy!
