Food is very obviously a large part of my life. Since starting this blog, I have become more and more invested in learning everything I can about it. However, it’s very important to me that I keep a balanced life. Not only does this mean eating in moderation and maintaining a steady exercise regimen, but it also means that I devote myself to many different interests, as opposed to becoming obsessed only with my newfound passion for food. My variety of interests give me a unique perspective! I’m a quick learner, I’m creative, and I’m fun. To give you a glimpse, I’ve written a little below about my life beyond the food.
I am finishing up my senior year at the University of Richmond, where I will receive a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies: Strategic Marketing and Communications. I designed this major in attempts to receive a well-rounded and fully integrated education to set me up for a career in digital marketing. UR offers a business administration major with a concentration in marketing, but I wanted to be able to take other courses focused in other relevant subjects as well such as rhetoric and communications, psychology, critical thinking, social media, and digital photography. IzzyBakeOven has taught me a lot about social media, targeting specific audiences, photography, writing in an appealing matter, and most importantly, creating a brand for myself. I am eager to pursue a career in this field, and this blog has only heightened my desire to do so. You can find my résumé on a separate tab on my homepage.
Another passion of mine is singing. Music, mainly singing, has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. You can pretty much always find me singing; whether I’m in the kitchen, in the car, the shower, cleaning my room, or subtly beat-boxing on my walk to class… it’s something that’s always on my mind. I am a member of the all-female a cappella group at UR called The Sirens, and we are in the process of recording our next CD. Once the tracks are published and released, I will upload them to this page as well. I have held various leadership positions in this group, and am currently our PR Chairman. I hold a similar position for my sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma, both of which push me to learn more about different design programs, as well as social media marketing as a whole.
When I’m not immersing myself in any of the activities listed above, you can always find me with friends. I love to entertain and plan parties; enjoying good food, wine, and conversation with good company is my favorite kind of night.
